Marble Stone

Description/ Specification of Marble Stone

Marble is a metamorphic rock that develops from limestone subjected to extreme heat and pressure, consisting mainly of recrystallised calcite (calcium carbonate). Rich veining and varied natural colours render it among the most coveted ornamentation stones in sculpture and architecture. Manufacturing Aspects: Marble quarrying starts by extracting big blocks from deposits, usually by wire saws, diamond-coated cutters, or blasting under controlled conditions. These blocks are further transported to factories, which cut them into slabs or tiles with gang saws. They are polished using increasingly finer abrasives to get a smooth reflecting surface. Certain marble can also be treated with resin to seal micro-cracks and enhance durability.
