Description/ Specification of Alum Salt

Alum salt or Aluminium sulfate is a low cost chemical compound which finds application in water treatment. It is used as a coagulant, whereby it binds the impurities present to form flocs which because of their heavier nature, settles down and removed from the bottom of flocculator. This process is known as coagulation or flocculation. It additionally removes color and turbidity from water. It is a white and sticky substance that easily traps the suspended particles in water. It also finds application in paper manufacturing and cloth dyeing.
